Gout is also called inflammatory arthritis. It usually affects the toes or fingers with extreme swelling and extreme joint pain. It's caused by a build-up of uric acid in the joints. There are many treatments for gout, including a comfrey poultice.

How to get rid of gout

Purchase fresh comfrey from herbal stores, such as Mountain Rose Herbs.

Grind a 3-5 leaves of fresh comfrey in a mortar or in a food processor.

Add a 3 tablespoons of water to the comfrey. Bring the mixture to a boil and then take it off the heat. You should have created a paste. You may be able to do this in the microwave, though the stove would be best.

Spread the paste between 2 pieces cotton cloth and place the cotton onto the area affected by gout.

Leave in place for no less than 2 hours. Overnight is best, though ideally you should be making a new poultice every 4 hours.








Tips & Warnings










Exercise, changing your eating habits and avoiding alcohol are the best ways to prevent gout.








Always check with your doctor before using an herb such as comfrey to treat gout.
